Hydrant Flushing July 15

FRASER VALLEY HYDRANT SERVICES

Will be flushing & servicing the fire hydrants in your complex on: July 15th

THE DISRUPTIONS TO WATER USE ARE MINIMAL

Water pressure may be reduced and vary temporarily
You may experience temporary discoloration of water. If so, run cold water in the bath tub until it cleans up
Refrain from using the washing machine during and immediately after flushing. Washing an empty load prior to use is advisable

Spring Dumpster Arrives

This year’s dumpster bin will arrive on Friday, April 29th and will be picked up on Monday, May 9th, 2011.

Please note that items listed below are not permitted in the dumpster and should be taken to the recycling centre at the foot of Riverside Drive or another appropriate facility.

BANNED ITEMS:

CONTAMINATION FINES WILL BE LEVIED AGAINST THE STRATA IF THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE PLACED IN THE DUMPSTER.

Corrugated cardboard, newsprint, office paper
Electronic waste (including personal computers, printers and TVs
Refundable beverage containers (excluding milk cartons)
Blue box recyclables (including glass, metal and plastic type 1,2,4 and 5 containers)
Paint, solvent, flammable liquids, gasoline and pesticides
Oil, oil filters and empty containers
Medications, pharmaceuticals
Lead-free (car) batteries), automobile bodies, refrigeration units
Tires, yard and garden waste, dead animals
Gypsum drywall, asbestos, barrels, drums, propane tanks, treated wood.

Olympic Displays

Residents are informed that the bylaws concerning the display of decorations will not be enforced through the remainder of February 2010 in consideration of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Please feel free to display any items such as Canadian Flags, red and white coloured lights, or other Olympic type decorations.

Maples BBQ [Updated]

The Maples-wide BBQ will be held on September 12th in the 300s cul-de-sac. Please bring your own chair and beverage.

When you return your filled-out notice, please indicate how many hamburgers or ball park sausages you would like. This will help in ordering the food. Remember we need your reply by August 28th. Thanks very much.

Door Painting

Remdal Painting and Restoration will be at the Maples to paint front doors for those owners who have signed up on:

Saturday, August 15th, 2009
Between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm

If you would like to sign-up to have your front door painted and have not done so already, please either call or email Mike Chess at Dodwell Strata at 604.699.5261 or mikec@dodwell.ca . Please let us know the colour you would like (Warm Sand, Ochre, Red Oxide, Burnt Umber or Essex Green) and whether you prefer AM or PM. If you have signed up but are not available at that time or for any reason no longer need your door painted please let us know.

Please note that your front door will have to remain open for several hours to allow the paint to dry. Also, please note that the cost to paint the front door is an Owner expense. The prices are as follows:

Existing Colour on Door and Frame – $40.00
Trim Only – $40.00
New Colour on Door and Frame – $80.00

2009 Catch-up Assessment

To accommodate the strata fee increase approved at this year’s AGM, all unit owners are required to send in a one time catch-up amount to cover the fee increase for the first four months of the year. Please see the fee schedule, available on the documents page under the “2009 Catch-up Assessment” link.

The web is an amazing resource. You can find just about anything and everything that you might be looking for. However somes and overabundance of options can be a problem. Good lists of relevant links (point to the resources and things for which you are looking can be very helpful).

To this end I have added a links page to themaples.ca. The idea here is to list stores, services, websites that are of value to us (the owners of The Maples).

I’ve started with a list of good restaurants and will slowly be adding stores, contractors, legal services, banks, financial advisors, dentists, schools, etc..

So if you know of a good link that you think others might find of value, send it my way and I will be happy to add it in …
